This shed style is also known as "Bow-Shed Roof" design.
I built this shed to house my 2022 KTM 390 Adventure motorcycle. I bought this motorcycle to ride across the US on the Trans America Trail which I spoke about at an Asheville Pecha Kucha event (video is here).
My goal with this build was to design a simple, light weight structure that securely housed my motorcycle. I came across this video of a person who built a bow shed roof structure and was inspired by the design.
I decided to use PVC pipe to create the "ribs" of my shed. Normally the ribs are constructed of 1x4 boards. I wasn't sure the PVC pipe would work but moved ahead with the build anyway.
The base of the shed is constructed with 4x4 and 2x4 treated lumber. Then I screwed on a 4x8 sheet of treated plywood.
I used a handheld drill press to create holes for the PVC pipe. The holes were drilled at an angle so I could achieve a "bow" effect. I measured the length of the PVC pipe such that the off-the-shelf metal roofing from Home Depot would precisely run from the peak of the roof to the base of the shed. It was only when I started to screw the metal roofing on that I thought this shed design might actually work.
I built this shed in 2022 and I'm writing this description in January 2026. The shed has worked wonderfully. No leaks! Easy to get my motorcycle in and out of.
