Dancing Fabric

I built the Dancing Fabric kinetic art installation in the spring of 2025 to be shared at the Asheville Maker Faire and the Lynchburg Virginia Maker Faire.

I was inspired to by this video of the same project. 

I intended for this project to be a purely visual piece but I quickly discovered that kids want to interact with it. They like to step inside (on the green tarp) and play with the dancing fabric. Although I like to see the kids play in this way, the fans usually get knocked over and all of the power cords present a tripping hazard. Trying to keep kids off the green tarp is like trying to stop the flow of a river.
